Collection: Lord of the Rings Swords

The swords of Middle-earth are not props. They are the physical expression of three thousand years of fictional history - the same history that Tolkien spent four decades building before a single frame of Peter Jackson's films was shot. Narsil was forged in the First Age. The runes on Anduril were inscribed in Rivendell and speak in Quenya. Sting glows blue because Elvish blades are enchanted to react to Orc blood. These are not decorative details. They are the depth that makes this universe the most collected in all of fantasy.

Our Lord of the Rings sword collection covers the full range of the Peter Jackson trilogy and The Hobbit, including officially licensed United Cutlery replicas - the most recognised name in LOTR replica production. All UK stock, dispatched from our warehouse in Bacup, Lancashire. No customs, no imports, no waiting.

All replicas are blunt ornamental pieces intended for display only. New customers provide age verification once before their first order is dispatched.

Anduril - the Flame of the West

Anduril is the sword that defines Aragorn's arc across the entire trilogy. Not because he carries it - he barely does until The Return of the King - but because of what carrying it means. The blade was reforged from the shards of Narsil in Rivendell after Arwen persuaded her father Elrond that the enemy could still be defeated. Elrond brought the sword to Aragorn at Dunharrow, and from that moment the heir of Isildur stopped running from his lineage.

The runes along the blade are inscribed in Quenya: "Anar. Nányë Andúril I né Narsil i macil Elendilo. Lercuvantan i móli Mordórëo. Isil." - Sun. I am Andúril who was once Narsil, sword of Elendil. The slaves of Mordor shall flee from me. Moon. They are not decoration. They are a statement of intent.

We stock Anduril in five versions:

Deluxe Anduril with Display Plaque - blunt metal, 134cm, display plaque included

Deluxe Anduril with Scabbard - blunt metal, 134cm, scabbard included

Superior Anduril - The Sword Reforged - newer version with scabbard

United Cutlery Officially Licensed Anduril - official UC licensed piece

United Cutlery Museum Collection Anduril - premium museum-grade piece

For collectors building a complete Aragorn display, Anduril pairs naturally with Narsil to tell the full story of the sword's journey.

Narsil - the Sword that was Broken

Narsil is the sword that Anduril came from, and in many ways it carries more weight. It was wielded by King Elendil during the War of the Last Alliance - the great battle at the end of the Second Age where the armies of Men and Elves marched on Mordor. Elendil was killed by Sauron in single combat. His son Isildur picked up the broken hilt and used the shattered blade to cut the One Ring from Sauron's finger - the act that ended the war and scattered Sauron's power for three thousand years.

The shards of Narsil were taken to Rivendell, where they remained for the entire Third Age as a symbol of what was lost and what could be restored. Their reforging into Anduril is the moment the story comes full circle.

Our United Cutlery Officially Licensed Narsil is one of the most narratively significant pieces in the collection. Displayed alongside Anduril it represents both the breaking and the restoration - a complete story on a single wall.

Glamdring - the Foe Hammer

Glamdring is Gandalf's sword, and its history runs deeper than the films suggest. It was forged in Gondolin in the First Age - one of the great Elven cities, destroyed thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings. It was found in a troll's hoard during The Hobbit, alongside Sting and Orcrist, and like all Elvish blades it glows blue when Orcs or Goblins are near. The goblins of the Misty Mountains called it Beater, and called Orcrist Biter, because they had long memories of what those blades had done to their ancestors.

Glamdring is the sword Gandalf carries through both trilogies - through Moria, through the battle on the Bridge of Khazad-dum, and into every confrontation that followed. For collectors who prefer the Istari to the Men, this is the definitive piece.

Our Deluxe Glamdring is a stainless steel replica with display plaque, officially licensed. Pairs naturally with a Gandalf Staff for a complete Gandalf display.

Sting - Bilbo's blade, Frodo's inheritance

Sting is the smallest sword in the collection and arguably the most important. A short Elvish blade found in the same troll hoard as Glamdring - too small for a Man, exactly right for a Hobbit. Bilbo used it against Shelob's kin in Mirkwood. He gave it to Frodo before the Fellowship departed Rivendell. Frodo wore it all the way to the fires of Mount Doom.

What makes Sting extraordinary as a collector piece is the glow function in certain versions - the Elvish enchantment that turns the blade blue in the presence of Orcs, which in the books is a genuine magical property rather than a cinematic flourish.

Our United Cutlery Officially Licensed Sting is a faithful replica of Bilbo and Frodo's blade. For collectors, Sting makes a natural companion to the Legolas Twin Daggers from our daggers collection - both short Elvish blades from the same universe.

Orcrist - the Goblin Cleaver

Orcrist was Thorin Oakenshield's sword, found alongside Glamdring and Sting in the troll hoard. Where Glamdring was called Beater, Orcrist was called Biter by the goblins - a name it earned during the wars of the First Age when it was wielded against them in Gondolin. Thorin carried it throughout The Hobbit until it was confiscated by the Wood-elves of Mirkwood. It was later placed on his tomb after his death at the Battle of Five Armies, where according to Tolkien it would glow in warning whenever enemies approached.

Our Orcrist - Thorin Oakenshield's Sword is officially licensed United Cutlery. Check the product page for current stock availability.

Displaying a Lord of the Rings sword collection

Middle-earth lends itself to themed displays more naturally than almost any other fictional universe. A few approaches worth considering.

The Aragorn story arc - Narsil and Anduril together. The broken sword and its reforging, displayed side by side. The most narratively complete two-piece LOTR display possible.

The Fellowship - Anduril (Aragorn), Glamdring (Gandalf), Sting (Frodo), Legolas's Twin Daggers. Every major Fellowship sword-bearer on a single wall.

Gondolin - Glamdring and Orcrist. Both forged in the same lost Elven city, separated by thousands of years, reunited in a troll's cave.

For display accessories, horizontal wall mounts work best for the longer blades - Anduril at 134cm needs a proper wall mount rather than a standard stand. Sting and the Twin Daggers are compact enough for desktop display or shadow box mounting. Browse our fantasy swords collection and daggers collection for pieces that complement the LOTR range.
