What is a dagger?
The dagger is defined by its proportions as much as its purpose. Shorter than a sword, typically between 15 and 50cm in overall length, the dagger is designed for close-range use and one-handed carry. Most have a pointed blade optimised for thrusting, though many historical designs are also double-edged to allow cutting strokes.
The distinction between a dagger and a knife is one of intent and design rather than size. A dagger is a dedicated weapon or ceremonial object with a symmetrical or near-symmetrical blade. A knife is primarily a tool that can be used defensively. The daggers in our collection fall firmly in the weapon and ceremonial object category.
Historical daggers - from Rome to the medieval period
The Roman Pugio The pugio was the standard sidearm of the Roman legionary from around the 1st century BC through to the late Empire period. Short, double-edged, and worn on the left hip opposite the gladius, it functioned as both a utility tool and a backup weapon. Some historians believe Julius Caesar was assassinated with a pugio. The weapon was ubiquitous across the Roman world for centuries. Our Roman Pugio Dagger is a stainless steel replica measuring 47cm overall with scabbard included.
The Rondel Dagger The rondel dagger was one of the most common sidearms of the medieval period, in use from roughly the 13th through to the 16th century. Named for the disc-shaped hand guard and pommel, it was designed specifically for thrusting - including through gaps in plate armour. Carried by knights, men-at-arms and civilians alike. Our Rondel Dagger is a cosplay and training version in rubber at £16.99.
Film and TV daggers - screen-accurate replicas
The Valyrian Steel Dagger - Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon Few weapons in television history carry as much narrative weight as the Valyrian steel dagger. Fashioned in Old Valyria and passed to the Targaryen family, it was used in an assassination attempt on Bran Stark - the act that triggered the War of the Five Kings - and later used by Arya Stark to kill the Night King. In House of the Dragon it appears in the possession of King Viserys. Our King Viserys Valyrian Steel Dagger and Arya's Catspaw is a stainless steel replica measuring 49cm overall with a 27cm blade. Includes a wooden wall plaque. Browse our full Game of Thrones collection for Longclaw, Ice and more.

Sits naturally alongside our Lord of the Rings swords collection for collectors covering the full Middle-earth timeline. Also available - Galadriel's Sword from Rings of Power with display plaque.
Legolas Twin Daggers - The Lord of the Rings Legolas carries twin long knives throughout the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Our Deluxe Legolas Twin Daggers are blunt metal replicas presented with a display plaque at £150 - the most premium dagger piece in the collection. Also available as a standalone Legolas Dagger collectible at 28cm for collectors who want a smaller display piece.
The Thundercats Dagger - Sword of Omens in compact form Before it extends into the full Sword of Omens, Lion-O's blade exists in a compact dagger form - the Eye of Thundera visible on the hilt. Our Thundercats Sword of Omens Dagger includes a wooden display stand. Pair it with the Deluxe Sword of Omens for the complete Thundera display.
The Phurba Dagger - The Shadow and The Golden Child One of Hollywood's more obscure prop stories - the Phurba dagger was used in both The Shadow with Alec Baldwin and The Golden Child with Eddie Murphy, making it one of the most repurposed props in studio history. Our Phurba Dagger is a replica of this distinctive ceremonial blade for collectors who appreciate the more unusual corners of film history.
Anime daggers - the Inverted Spear of Heaven
Toji Fushiguro's Inverted Spear of Heaven - Jujutsu Kaisen The Inverted Spear of Heaven is one of the most significant weapons in Jujutsu Kaisen - a Special Grade cursed tool with the unique ability to nullify any cursed technique it makes contact with, including Infinity itself. Wielded by Toji Fushiguro, who operates with zero cursed energy, it is the perfect weapon. Our Deluxe Inverted Spear of Heaven is a stainless steel replica measuring 54cm overall with a 31cm blade, 4mm thickness and 1.1kg weight. Includes a wooden stand. Note: this is technically a spear/cursed tool rather than a dagger - included here as it sits at the short-blade crossover point and is listed in this category. Read our full JJK weapons guide for the story behind the blade.

Displaying a dagger collection
Daggers display differently from swords. Their shorter length means they work well on wall-mounted shadow boxes, grouped on a horizontal display rack, or individually on small desktop stands. The JJK Inverted Spear of Heaven and Thundercats Dagger include stands. The Valyrian Steel Dagger and Legolas Twin Daggers include plaques for wall display.
If you are building a themed display, pairing daggers with swords from the same universe creates a complete set. Browse our LOTR swords, Game of Thrones swords, anime swords and fantasy swords.
