Legal Compliance Policy

Last updated: March 2026

At The Sword Stall, we are committed to operating fully within UK law. All products sold on this website are intended solely for display, collection, and cosplay purposes. We take our legal obligations seriously and expect all customers to comply with applicable legislation in their jurisdiction.

1. Age Restriction

Relevant legislation: Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Section 141A)

The sale of bladed articles to persons under the age of 18 is prohibited under the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Section 141A). By placing an order on this website, you confirm that you are 18 years of age or older. We reserve the right to request proof of age at any point and to cancel any order where age cannot be verified. Deliveries of bladed items may require an adult signature upon receipt.

2. Offensive Weapons Act 2019

Relevant legislation: Offensive Weapons Act 2019

Under the Offensive Weapons Act 2019, it is illegal to sell or deliver a bladed product to a person under the age of 18 in England and Wales. In compliance with this legislation, we apply age verification checks at the point of sale and may apply additional verification at the point of delivery through our courier partners. We do not dispatch bladed items to residential addresses without appropriate age verification measures in place.

3. Flick Knives & Prohibited Weapons

Relevant legislation: Restriction of Offensive Weapons Act 1959; Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Section 141)

The Restriction of Offensive Weapons Act 1959 and the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (Section 141) prohibit the manufacture, sale, hire, or importation of certain weapon types, including flick knives, gravity knives, and other specified offensive weapons. The Sword Stall does not stock, sell, or supply any item that falls within the categories of prohibited weapons under these Acts.

4. Replica Firearms & Imitation Weapons

Relevant legislation: Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006

Cosplay and prop replica firearms sold on this website are inert, non-functional props intended for costume and display use only. We comply with the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006, which governs the sale of realistic imitation firearms (RIFs). We do not sell functional firearms, air weapons, or any item capable of discharging a projectile. Sales of realistic imitation firearms are restricted to persons aged 18 and over.

5. Carrying Weapons in Public

Relevant legislation: Criminal Justice Act 1988; Prevention of Crime Act 1953

It is a criminal offence under the Criminal Justice Act 1988 and the Prevention of Crime Act 1953 to carry a bladed or pointed article in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse. All items sold by The Sword Stall are intended for private display and collection only. Customers must not carry, brandish, or use any purchased item in a public place.

6. Export & International Orders

Relevant legislation: Export Control Order 2008; applicable destination country laws

Customers outside the United Kingdom are solely responsible for ensuring that any item ordered complies with the laws of their country or region. The Sword Stall accepts no liability for items seized, restricted, or prohibited by customs authorities in the destination country. By placing an international order, the customer confirms they have verified local legality prior to purchase.

7. Data Protection

Relevant legislation: UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR); Data Protection Act 2018

We handle all personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
