The Sword Stall Layaway Scheme - an ornate sword on a stand with a Reserved tag beside a dragon's hoard

The Sword Stall Layaway Scheme: Reserve It Now, Pay at Your Own Pace

Reserve the piece you actually want. Pay for it bit by bit. Become a Layaway Legend.

You know the one. The grail. The blade, the statue, the piece that would finish the shelf. You have opened the page, hovered over the button, and quietly closed it again. Not this month. Maybe next. Maybe one day.

"One day" is how grails become the ones that got away.

So we built a layaway scheme. It exists for one reason: so you can stop talking yourself out of the piece you really want, and start letting yourself have it. Properly. No compromise.

What is layaway, and what it definitely is not

Layaway is old-school and simple. You reserve something with a deposit, pay it off in your own time, and it ships the moment it is paid in full. We hold the piece safe until then. Think of it as the Christmas Club your nan used to pay into, except the prize is a hand-forged katana.

What it is not matters just as much. This is not Klarna. It is not buy-now-pay-later. There are no lenders, no credit checks, no interest and no debt. Nobody runs a credit search on you. You are not borrowing anything. You are setting your treasure aside and paying for it as you go, at today's price, straight from the people who love it as much as you do.

How the Layaway Scheme works

Four steps. Our dragon does most of the heavy lifting.

  1. Pay a deposit to open your reservation. Every eligible item has a "Layaway Deposit Only" listing with the deposit shown. Buy that, and the piece is yours in waiting.
  2. We set it aside on the hoard. Cinders, our extremely broody dragon, guards every reservation like it is her own egg. Mafoo the Box Goblin frets over it too. It will not be sold to anyone else.
  3. Pay off the rest at your own pace. Any amount, whenever suits you. A tenner here, fifty there, a big chunk on payday. We send a monthly reminder showing what is left and a link to pay. No fixed schedule, no minimum instalment.
  4. The last pound lands, and it ships. We never dispatch until it is completely yours. Then it is on its way to your shelf, paid for and exactly as you wanted it.

Your price is locked at the day you paid your deposit. Sold out later, discontinued, doubled on the secondary market: you pay what you agreed. Not a penny more.

How long do I get?

Long enough that you will not feel it.

  • In-stock items: at least 12 months from your deposit.
  • Pre-orders: until the item arrives with us plus three months, or 12 months from your deposit, whichever is later. A longer wait simply gives you longer, and if a pre-order slips, your time extends with it.

If a reservation is getting near its limit with a balance still outstanding, we will send you a clear final notice with a deadline before anything changes. We would always rather you got your treasure than lost your place. The full detail is on the Layaway Scheme terms and conditions page.

How to make a payment

This is the bit people ask about, so here it is plainly.

Your confirmation email and every monthly reminder carry a link to the Layaway Legend Instalment Payment. It is a £1 product. Put the amount you want to pay in the quantity box (200 makes a £200 payment), add it to your basket and check out as normal. That is the whole process. If you have more than one item on layaway, add a note saying which one the payment is for, or reply to your reminder email and we will sort it.

Want to clear it early? Go ahead. Pay the balance the day after your deposit if you like. As soon as it is fully paid, it ships.

This is not about affording it. It is about letting yourself.

Every buy-now-pay-later scheme quietly frames you as someone who cannot afford the thing. Poor you, here is some credit.

Layaway flips that. Reserving a piece is not a confession that you are short. It is the mark of a collector who will not compromise, who refuses to settle for the lesser piece, miss the grail, or let the perfect blade slide past because the timing was not tidy. You are not spreading the cost. You are allowing yourself the collection you actually want, built properly, with nothing you will look back on with a wince.

And yes, there is a villain. Every hesitated-over grail that sells out tends to wash up in the hands of a scalper, marked up double and sold back to you as regret. Reserving your piece at a fair price before it is gone is how you starve him. Claim it. Don't feed the Gatekeeper.

What can you put on layaway?

Layaway is for the pieces that deserve it: the centrepieces, the grails, the ones worth reserving.

  • Licensed replica swords and hand-forged katanas. The big, beautiful, display-worthy blades.
  • High-end collectibles and statues. Hot Toys, Sideshow, PureArts and the premium pieces that anchor a serious collection. Start with the Grail Gallery.
  • Pre-orders. This is where layaway comes into its own. If a piece will not arrive for months anyway, pay it off while you wait and turn up to a grail that is already yours.

Look for the "Layaway Deposit Only" listing on the product page. If a piece you want does not have one, get in touch and ask. Everyday bits and smaller treasures do not need layaway; that is what your card is for.

Changed your mind? Nothing is ever lost.

Life happens, and we are not about to hold your treasure hostage.

  • Within 14 days of your deposit: full refund of everything you have paid, back to your original payment method. No drama.
  • After 14 days: whatever you have paid becomes store credit. It never expires and it can be spent on anything in the store, ready for whenever the right piece comes along.

Either way, you never lose your money. That is the exact opposite of a debt trap, and it is the whole point.

Buying for someone else?

Layaway is for a piece you have chosen. If you are buying for a collector and have no idea which grail they are quietly obsessing over, the Sword Stall Gift Card lets them choose, and it counts as a payment method on anything in the store.
