Description

A Sword Lost to History.

Recovered from the depths.

Reborn by Hanwei.

The Hanwei River Witham Sword is a remarkable historical reproduction inspired by one of Britain's most fascinating medieval discoveries. Based on the famous sword recovered from the River Witham near Lincoln during dredging works in 1788, this exceptional replica honours a weapon believed to date from approximately 1250–1300 CE.

Faithfully recreated by CAS Hanwei, the sword preserves one of the original's most intriguing mysteries—the enigmatic blade inscription:

+NDXOXCHMDRCHDXORVI+

Its true meaning remains unknown, adding an air of mystery that has fascinated historians and collectors for centuries.

Forged from 1566 high carbon spring steel, the 31.5-inch blade is finished in a style that reflects authentic medieval craftsmanship rather than a modern mirror polish. The leather-covered hardwood grip, traditional crossguard and peened pommel complete a historically accurate presentation that captures the spirit of a true 13th-century knightly sword.

Supplied with a leather-wrapped scabbard, the River Witham Sword is an outstanding addition to any medieval collection, offering a unique blend of archaeological history, craftsmanship and timeless elegance.

A relic of England's past.

Recreated for today's collector.
