Description
The Highlander's Companion.
Simple.
Practical.
Authentically Scottish.
The Hanwei Early Dirk – Reintroduced is a faithful recreation of one of Scotland's most iconic edged weapons. Patterned after an original dating to circa 1700, this beautifully crafted dirk reflects the transitional designs that evolved from the earlier ballock knives, becoming an essential sidearm for Highland clansmen.
Crafted by Hanwei, this historically inspired reproduction features a 13.5-inch backed blade—single-edged with a wedge-shaped cross-section—faithfully recreating the practical design carried throughout the Scottish Highlands. Forged using high carbon spring steel, the blade offers modern strength while maintaining the restrained finish characteristic of authentic period weapons, closely resembling the work of traditional swordsmiths.
The 7-inch carved hardwood hilt provides both comfort and historical authenticity, making this dirk a favourite among Highland re-enactors, collectors and enthusiasts of Scottish history.
Now discontinued, the Hanwei Early Dirk has become an increasingly sought-after piece, valued for its historical accuracy, craftsmanship and enduring appeal.
