Description
Flintlock Pocket Pistol - London 1795
Small but full of character – the Flintlock Pocket Pistol - London 1795.
A reproduction of the flintlock pocket pistol made by Kumbley & Brum in London in 1795, made of metal with plastic grips in an ivory-effect finish and a simulated loading and firing mechanism.
Flintlock pistols came in many sizes – the smallest were under six inches long and slipped easily into a coat pocket or purse. Flintlock pistols worked by striking a flint against steel to throw a spark into the priming pan, igniting the powder charge. Each shot had to be reloaded by hand through the muzzle – powder, ball and wad – so in battle they were usually fired once before the owner reached for a sword.
