Description
Cold Steel Recon Tanto SK-5 Fixed Blade Knife
Add a legendary blade to your collection with the Cold Steel Recon Tanto SK-5 Fixed Blade Knife.
The Cold Steel Recon Tanto is one of the most influential fixed-blade knives ever produced, setting the standard for modern Tanto knives around the world. Designed for military, survival and demanding outdoor use, it combines exceptional strength, legendary durability and Cold Steel's iconic reinforced Tanto point to create a knife built for the toughest conditions.
Its 7-inch blade is crafted from Japanese SK-5 high-carbon steel, the equivalent of American 1080 steel, renowned for its outstanding toughness, excellent edge retention and impressive wear resistance. Carefully heat treated to maximise performance, the blade develops a fine-grained martensitic structure with dispersed carbides that enhance durability while maintaining a razor-sharp cutting edge.
The signature Recon Tanto blade profile features an angular reinforced point engineered to provide exceptional tip strength, making it ideal for demanding utility, bushcraft, camping and outdoor applications. The robust construction ensures dependable performance in challenging environments where reliability is essential.
The ergonomic Kray-Ex® handle offers a secure, non-slip grip with excellent shock absorption, providing confident handling in wet, muddy or cold conditions. Designed for extended use, it delivers exceptional comfort while resisting cracking, shrinking and weather-related deterioration.
Each Recon Tanto is supplied with a rugged Secure-Ex® sheath, providing secure blade retention and convenient carry for outdoor adventures, professional use and long-term storage.
Combining legendary Cold Steel engineering with the proven performance of Japanese SK-5 steel, the Recon Tanto SK-5 remains one of the world's finest fixed-blade Tanto knives.
