The head is drop forged from 1055 high carbon steel and differentially heat treated, producing a hardened cutting edge while maintaining a tougher, more resilient body. This proven heat treatment allows the axe to absorb repeated impacts without sacrificing edge performance. The 3.5-inch cutting edge is precision sharpened, while the reinforced rear spike gives the Trench Hawk its distinctive military-inspired appearance and contributes to its exceptional balance.

Unlike traditional wooden hafts, the 19-inch synthetic handle is designed to resist shock, impact and harsh environmental conditions. It stands up to demanding use that could damage conventional timber handles and, when eventually worn after extensive service, can be replaced quickly and economically.
