The head is drop forged from 1055 high carbon steel and benefits from differential heat treatment, producing a hardened cutting edge while leaving the body of the head tougher and more resistant to impact. This proven construction enables the Trench Hawk to endure repeated heavy blows and the stresses associated with regular throwing. Its 3.5-inch cutting edge is precision sharpened, while the aggressive rear spike completes the classic military-inspired profile and enhances the tomahawk's distinctive appearance.

Replacing the traditional wooden haft is a robust 19-inch impact-resistant synthetic handle. Designed to absorb shock and withstand abuse that would damage or break many wooden handles, it delivers excellent durability in demanding environments. Should extensive use eventually wear the handle, it can be replaced quickly and economically, helping to extend the working life of the tomahawk.

For safe transport and storage, the Military Trench Hawk is supplied with Cold Steel's patented Secure-Ex® sheath. Featuring an innovative articulated locking design, the sheath securely encloses both the sharpened cutting edge and the rear spike while allowing convenient access whenever required.
