The Buster Sword is one of the most recognisable weapons in gaming history. Enormous, single-edged, worn on Cloud Strife's back throughout Final Fantasy VII - it is the sword that defined him before he fully understood who he was.

Its story begins before Cloud picks it up. The Buster Sword originally belonged to Angeal, one of SOLDIER's first-class operatives, who inherited it from his father. Angeal passed it to Zack Fair before his death, asking him to carry it with pride. Zack carried it through the events of Crisis Core, and when he was killed protecting a comatose Cloud from Shinra forces, Cloud took it as a tribute to everything Zack had done for him. The sword is not just a weapon. It is the weight of two people's sacrifices that Cloud carries through every fight in the game.

This context matters in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, where the weight of what Cloud carries - seen through the lens of knowing whose sword it was - lands with a completely different weight on a second playthrough.

The sword design itself is deliberately impractical. No real swordsmith would make something this wide and this heavy without a specific purpose behind the choice. The width communicates Cloud's role as a tank-class fighter - a one-man wall between Shinra and the people he protects.

This is a full-size, full-weight piece. At 150cm and 9kg it is genuinely imposing as a display object. Wall mounting is the recommended display approach - a horizontal mount at eye level shows the full profile of the blade and gives you the full effect of the proportions. Make sure fixings are rated for at least 12kg.
