Karōshi features a hand-forged 1095 high-carbon steel blade, repeatedly heated, hammered and folded to create its distinctive layered construction.

The blade undergoes differential clay tempering, a traditional technique designed to produce a harder cutting edge while maintaining greater resilience along the spine.

This process can also create a natural hamon (temper line), a highly prized feature of traditionally crafted Japanese swords.

🏯 Traditional Japanese Handle Construction

The wooden tsuka (handle) is covered in genuine stingray skin (samegawa), providing the distinctive textured finish associated with traditional Japanese swords.

This is completed with traditional cotton handle wrapping (tsukamaki), creating the classic diamond-pattern appearance of a samurai katana.
